I love that smile!!! After my two giant boys, Caroline is much smaller! She weighs 11 pounds 5 ounces (42%), is 23 inches long (65%), and her head circumference is 15 inches (34%). She has very blue eyes right now but we will see if those last. She loves to lay flat and kick her feet and has just started to watch things above her.

Visiting Santa!
Last year we went to Bass Pro Shop on a Saturday and loved it but it was a little crazy! This year we have already been and asked lots of questions about when the best time to come is...they said in the evening on a weeknight. Tonight I got everyone ready after naps, picked up Bryan from work and headed there. Zander was so excited! He has been practicing telling Santa what he wants..."a guitar, a racket, a train, and a race car track!" When we got there, there was no line and he ran right up and jumped in Santa's lap. From his face, he looks a little scared but he was a champ!!!
We visited last week with Grandma and the boys LOVED the carousel, train, and race track! In fact this weekend when I asked Zander if he wanted to go to the zoo, he said no but he would like to go to the fish store! Tonight he was excited to show dad all the things he found last week, visit the fish, and ride the "alligator" (elevator, I think he got this pronunciation from his cousin Peyton!)

Zander's Thanksgiving!
We were invited to Zander's school for a Thanksgiving lunch, I jumped at the chance! I am very thankful for the opportunity to do these things while I am being a mom this year, it was so much fun to watch Zander interact with his friends and spend lunch with him!

Welcome Caroline Jane Bergner!
Caroline Jane arrived at 11:55 AM on October 25th. She was 8 lbs, 7 oz and 19 1/2 inches long. She continues to be my miracle baby! We made it to our induction date which surprised me! I had so many contractions with this pregnancy that I was sure she would come early like Finely did but luckily she waited until we were safely at the hospital. We arrived at 7:30 for induction and started right away. At 11:30, we were progressing but it would be awhile and Bryan decided to go grab some lunch. While he was gone, the doctor came to check on me and decided I was far enough along to break my water.
The nurse, doctor, and I were the only ones in the room when she broke my water. Immediately, there was a lot of fluid and she looked at the nurse very concerned. She said "I feel the cord". I wasn't sure what this meant but I knew she looked concerned, I asked what this meant and she didn't immediately respond. I asked again, then I asked if I was going to have a C-section. She said yes and the craziness began. I started trying to get a hold of Bryan (his ringer was down), they called a code C which causes many doctors to flood your room and they started moving me toward the OR. The doctor never let go of Caroline, holding her off her cord and keeping her alive and I just kept asking if she was ok. It seemed like forever but was in fact very quick. Bryan was paged (which he also didn't hear) and he was welcomed at the doors of the Baby Unit with scrubs and the news we were headed for a C-section. He had no idea why this was happening but made it to the door in time to see Caroline be born. I was completely out as I didn't have my epidural yet and there was no other option. They broke my water at 11:45 and Caroline was born at 11:55...amazing!
I woke up about two hours later and finally got to hold her. Later when we were talking about all this, Bryan told me I first asked for a Guinness! He later admitted I first asked where I was and almost immediately then asked about Caroline. She was great, everyone did a great job keeping her safe!
Grandma and Grandpa brought the boys to visit each day! The boys loved the balloons when we got home!! |
We had lots of visitors at the hospital! Aunt Sharon surprised us with a visit from Michigan!!! Unfortunately, I ended up being in the hospital for her entire stay but she had beautiful weather and plenty of entertainment for hiking and hanging out in Colorado!
Recovery was much harder for me and Bryan had lots of snuggle time with Caroline! Delivery was Friday and although I thought I could go home Sunday, I woke up on Sunday and was unable to keep any food down. Eventually I started to feel better and we were sent home on Monday afternoon in time to pick Zander up from school.

Zander Starts Soccer and Moves Up to the Big Kid Class at School!
Wow! What an exciting day for Zander! He is moving up to Preschool at his daycare, or the Big Boy Classroom as he will tell you. AND starting soccer!
We love our daycare and chose to leave Zander there 2 days a week while I am staying home. A couple weeks ago, the teacher asked if we would consider a 3rd day for a fraction of the cost as he moves up to preschool. They felt the consistency would be good for him and I couldn't agree more. He is learning his letters! His favorite is O but I happen to know he has learned more, he is just disappointed there is no O in Zander. Today was his first day in the Big Boy Class. There is one poor girl in the class and I'm not sure if I feel more sorry for her or the teachers because there is a lot of boy energy in there! Ms. Claire, his teacher is waiting for a couple more girls to join the class this month. He loved his first day and as we picked him up, he assured us "I had fun today!" although we weren't worried!
After school we headed to the park where Zander started soccer! He has been very excited about this and loved running around kicking the ball with his "new friends" on his team. He was also excited that Mom, Dad, and Finley came to watch him! We he had to stop running or sit down and listen, he was less excited...we will work on these expectations over the next week and hopefully he will do better!
